THE STANDING TRIPLE JUMP CHALLENGE - Parts 2 & 3

He's back... and so are you.

Ready for the final two parts of the MINT Coaching STJ Challenge?

WHAT YOU NEED?

Markers or cones to set as jump targets. Measuring tape if you want to see how far you went!

PART 2 - Beat the Marker

Start in the same way but this time put more effort into the movements so you spend a little less time between jumps on the ground.

Place a marker for your start point. Hold on to the another marker and place this at the end of your jump. This is the point you want to meet or beat. If you beat it consistently then move it out to your new end point.

Do this 10 times - doing it successfully means without your knee caving on landing.

You will probably get your best attempts between attempt 3 and 5.

PART 3 - Time to start running!

Here we go it's the final part of this MINT Coaching Challenge. You may need to head to the park for this bit if you don't have space in the garden.

Firstly set out your start marker with some room before you hit it to run up to it.

In this phase you want to make each step at maximal (yes that is a word!) effort.

To increase intensity jog up to a marker and GO FOR IT. Remember to always take off with the same leg so you may take a few goes to test your run up.

Upping it again. This time before attempting your STJ, visualise where you are going to place your feet and then sprint to the first marker. Don't forget to use those arms too. You should get a much longer jump now than you did in part 2.

Want to mix is up a bit more?

Try jumping over low hurdles or any other barrier, but please be careful!
